Viking Range - The Viking Range Corporation was founded in 1984 by a fourth-generation building contractor
With more than 25 years in business, Viking Range Corporation possesses a history of entrepreneurship, innovation, and quality. The company was incorporated in 1984 and shortly thereafter began manufacturing its unique commercial-style range for home use. Its ranges combine the best features of restaurant-style stoves, such as high heat, large capacity ovens, and professional styling, with key elements from home stoves, such as automatic ignition, in-oven broiling, and standardized dimensions to fit in a home kitchen.
Viking Range was founded by Fred Carl, Jr. to fill the need he saw in the kitchen appliance market for a heavy-duty range with professional quality engineering as well as home use safety features. When Viking Range submitted its first design to the American Gas Association laboratories for testing and certification, the design required the development of new testing criteria and took more than a year to earn approval. After the first Viking Range stoves were made available in January 1987, the company expanded quickly.
Viking Range soon outgrew its first manufacturing facilities in Southern California and established its own plant in Greenwood, Mississippi, in 1989. Today, Viking Range’s operations are still based in Greenwood, and the company now manufactures an expanded array of kitchen appliances that are sold throughout the United States and around the world. In addition to its ranges and ventilation hoods, Viking Range now manufactures dozens of products including warming drawers, dishwashers, garbage disposals, refrigerators, freezers, and an array of outdoor appliances.
Viking Range products are distributed in the United States via 13 residential appliance distributors. Viking is also sold throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, North and South Africa, the Caribbean, and Australasia as well as Mexico, Central and South America.
