La Villa Pizzareia Brooklyn NY - La Villa Pizzeria Brooklyn NY

La Villa Pizzareia Brooklyn NY

Founded in 1982, New York's La Villa Pizzeria remains family owned and run. The family has operated Brooklyn pizzerias since the 1950s, and La Villa currently has three locations in New York. In addition to a pizzeria on 5th Avenue in Brooklyn's Park Slope neighborhood, La Villa maintains a restaurant on Avenue U in Mill Basin and another in Howard Beach.
La Villa Pizzeria offers a wide range of menu items. Its pizzas are cooked in wood-fired ovens, and diners can choose from a wealth of toppings. Along with buffalo mozzarella imported from Campania, Italy, and homemade mozzarella, La Villa Pizzeria offers such toppings as sopressata, prosciutto, and  sautéed broccoli rabe. The popular New York pizzeria also offers a variety of other traditional Italian foods, such as antipasti, pastas, and salads. However, as Tina Barry of The Brooklyn Paper wrote of La Villa, “The pizza is the real draw and it's worthy of the hype."
Each year, La Villa Pizzeria hosts a fundraising event in partnership with the New York City Police Department Highway Patrol and Ferrari of Long Island. The 2011 event focused on raising funds for the Julien Collot Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting bone marrow transplant research through the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, located in New York. The event included a speech by Dr. Farid Boulad, Medical Director of Memorial Sloan-Kettering's Pediatric Day Hospital. La Villa Pizzeria fully catered a lunch at its Park Slope, Brooklyn, location. The event succeeded in raising over $70,000.
