Equality Charter School - Equality Charter School
A middle school with a curriculum designed to cultivate academic and student growth momentum into high school and eventual college preparation, Equality Charter School prides itself on a rigorous academic program combined with initiatives created to help students achieve their maximum potential.
Founded in 2009, Equality Charter School uses a holistic approach to education, providing students with high-quality academics in tandem with access to and opportunities in athletics and the arts. Additionally, with an understanding of its role in student development, Equality Charter School makes every effort to prepare students for the standardized tests they are likely to encounter throughout their school careers leading up to SATs and other college entrance examinations.
Located in the Bronx borough of New York City, Equality Charter School accepts students from a wide variety of educational backgrounds. The school strives equally to challenge advanced students as it does to nurture and assist others who may require special considerations.
Equality Charter School functions according to a number of guiding principles that include a positive school culture, compliance with New York State educational standards, and parental involvement. For Equality Charter School, the role of the parent in a child’s education is a fundamental aspect of that student’s success. For this reason, the school strongly suggests regular parent-teacher conferences in addition to offering a number of occasions throughout the year in which parents are encouraged to participate. Some of these events include writing celebrations, a Black History Month celebration, and an athletics showcase.
In addition to an active Parent Teacher Scholar Organization, Equality Charter School benefits from an expert staff of administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, and social workers who work carefully to help students in all aspects of academic and personal growth
