Earth Treks - Earth Treks
Headquartered in Columbia, Maryland, Earth Treks owns and operates three state-of-the-art indoor climbing gyms. Each of the Earth Treks locations in Timonium, Columbia, and Rockville represents one of the largest facilities in the United States. The company also offers one of the oldest and most well-established guide services for rock climbing and ice climbing in the greater Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. region.
Earth Treks’ community of climbers enjoys access to instructional programs appropriate for a wide variety of levels and ages from kids to adult learners. Youth and family program options include the three-hour Friday Nite Rox climbing adventure, specifically designed for participants with no previous vertical experience. In addition to games and basic skills instruction, children get the chance to experience a full evening of rock climbing. Summer camps are an annual highlight of young climbers’ calendars, lasting between three and five days and providing age appropriate instruction in outdoor locations throughout Maryland.
Some of the Earth Treks courses for experienced adult climbers are ice-climbing seminars. These winter seminars do not require any experience and are taught in the Adirondacks near Lake Placid in New York. This location offers both spectacular scenery and reliable seasonal ice climbing.
For climbers wanting to expand their horizons, Earth Treks also organizes annual international expeditions to locations such as Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania; and Cotopaxi, Ecuador. The Mount Kilimanjaro trek lasts nearly two weeks and is packed with rugged yet non-technical high altitude adventure.
