Carbon NYC - Carbon NYC
Carbon is a New York-based, invitation-only social network of over 150 leaders in international business, politics, medicine, philanthropy and the arts. Criteria for membership are outstanding professional achievement, a strong character, and a demonstrated passion for non-work-related pursuits, including the arts, philanthropy, technology, sports, and leisure.
The foundation of Carbon membership is integrity and a commitment to actively participate in events and support other members professionally and personally. Events give members unique access to the best that New York City has to offer, while fostering personal and business relationships.
Carbon actively supports numerous charitable organizations through fundraising events. Notable events include the annual Spring Charity Soire, which in 2011, netted over $100,000 for the nonprofit organization CampInteractive. In 2010, the soire raised funds for charity: water, an organization that brings safe drinking water to developing nations. The network also supports the New York City Food Bank and held a food drive for the group in November 2011.
Carbon NYC began the Carbon Salon Speaker Series in 2010, which brings notable industry leaders to venues throughout the city to share their insight and expertise with club members. Guest speakers have included the Honorable Michael Chertoff, former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Louie Psihoyos, an Academy Award-winning director and world-renowned photographer; Jeff Bluestein, the former Chief Executive Officer of Harley-Davidson; and Bob Pittman, the founder of MTV and former Chief Operating Officer of Time Warner Inc.
